Most investors who flip homes will look for foreclosures. This is done mainly by door knocking, contacting banks and auction houses. There are many places that have list available, but the easiest way to find
foreclosures is by mass mailings.

Any title company will provide Realtors and investors a free list of homes in foreclosure. Simply mail a letter to everyone on the list and make an offer to purchase their home. Have a toll free telephone number
in case the owner is out of state.

Some of the places to locate foreclosures are:

  • HUD and VA Homes
  • Fannie Mae Homes
  • Internal Revenue Homes
  • Marshall's Office Homes

Buying Homes at Auctions

Needless to say there are many homes being auctioned on the steps of courthouses and many places offering lists to these sales. Some of the websites who offer this service would be:

  • Realtytrac.com
  • Foreclosure.com

There are many places online that offer auction information also and those sites will cater to the many investors vying for the same information. The
best bet is finding local sources of information, such as listings in
the newspapers and becoming "best friends" with every bank and financial
corporation's Loss and Mitigation Department.
